GOLF OVERVIEW:
Valderrama was constructed in 1974 as "Sotogrande New," to the designs of leading American golf course architect Robert Trent Jones. Renamed "Las Aves" in 1981, it was acquired by Jaime Ortiz- Patiño in 1984. The golf course was redesigned and expanded by the original architect and became "Valderrama."
By 1999, Valderrama was rated the top course in mainland Europe by Golf World magazine.
The fourth hole, La Cascada, is the course's signature hole. It is a par 5 with a pond to the right of the two-tiered green. The practice ground was called the best in Europe by Nick Faldo.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:
At the end of 2013 a full renovation of the irrigation system has been decided. The obsolete Toro SitePro System and satellites as well as pump station and rotors are being changed for the last generation of Rain Bird Hardware and software. Cirrus central control software enables to “see” the course like no other central control system can. With state-of-the-art ET based scheduling, customized course graphics and multiple mapping options, Cirrus makes controlling irrigation system fast and easy.

CHALLENGE:
Greenkeeper team is focused on providing the absolute best playing surface for elite Golf players. “Valderrama has built a reputation over the years as one of the top golf facilities in the World; we are committed to the constant search of excellence and Rain Bird is a great partner in this new journey.” said Javier Reviriego, General Manager.
Valderrama Golf Club now relies on Rain Bird irrigation systems to provide best-in-class system control and precise, uniform irrigation. Rain Bird Iberica’s team of experienced professionals provided designs and specifications, and collaborated with ACTTUA GOLF SERVICES for project management and JERIGOLF for the installation.
